Please consider kicking off the 2011 holiday season with us at our Tenth Annual Festival of Trees! The festivities will begin with the lighting ceremony at 5:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving evening, November 24 at the Grand Ely Lodge. The entire Festival runs from November 24 until noon on December 4 and includes a silent auction to purchase decorated trees.

There is also a Christmas Boutique featuring beautiful hand-crafted items by Ely groups and individuals. The Boutique will be open during the entire Festival of Trees.

A big draw every year is the Memorial Tree that people use to remember or celebrate their loved ones. People can purchase a ‘memorial’ ball/ornament at the  Festival and put their loved ones name on it. Memorial Trees are available in Ely, Babbitt, Embarrass, and Tower.

Also look for the annual Vermilion Community College Students’ tree featuring beautifully glazed pottery fish. This is a Festival of Trees favorite!

The annual theme dinner was held on Thursday, June 23, 2011. “Step Aside Broadway – Here’s Ely” was the theme and highlighted all the plays that have been produced in Ely during the past 25 years. People were invited to dress up as their favorite play characters, so there were some great pirates (Pirates of Penzance) and nuns (Nunsense) as well as other colorful characters from plays such as Grease and Oklahoma. Thanks to all who helped create such a memorable evening and all those that attended and helped raise money for NHRP’s community services!

Northwoods Partners has moved to the old waiting room of the Ely Bloomenson Hospital.

In the fall of 2009, the Northwoods Partners moved offices back to the Ely Bloomenson Hospital after most of the renovations were completed there. The office can be found by entering through the Duluth Clinic-Ely front doors and take the corridor to the left towards the hospital. The office is right before the turn going into the hospital.
